Subject:  SW in Hip Magazine for Deaf Kids

March 1st, 1999

Dear SW List Members -
Today I received two copies of "Hip Magazine for Deaf Kids" in the mail. It
is such an attractive, colorful publication...always very positive and
pleasing to read. And in each issue, they have different puzzles and games,
appearing in the center of the magazine, related to deaf issues...called
the "Fun Corner".

In this January/February issue, the Fun Corner features a SignWriting
puzzle....the American Manual Alphabet is written in SignWriting to the
left on the page, and in the center, there is a sentence written in
fingerspelling, and the kids are asked to figure out what it says...very
nice!

One of the co-publishers of Hip Magazine, Robin Gladstone, is a member of
our SignWriting List...so thanks, Robin, for including the SW puzzle, and
for the free copies!

PS. Robin's deaf 16-year old son, Daniel, creates and draws HiP's comic
strip, "Deaf Defender." It is real "cool"!!

Valerie :-)
