October 28, 1999 Dear SignWriting List: I am now writing from my DeafVision account. They are a wonderful group of people and I truly admire all they have to put up with...and they are always pleasant! Email is very variable. Not only do people see different things, but email systems are run differently too....and then there are all those graphics formats etc... Michael Everson has offered to help us with Unicode. We have to find funding for it. It may take several years at best, even with funding, to get SignWriting into email messages as text. That day will come, but it is not now. The ability to paste pictures into email messages has been available for years, with the right kind of software. We can continue with the graphics pasting, but there is a problem: I am not doing well. My health is poor again. As you know, I have genetic problems that will always be with me...and generally I do pretty well...but I must cut down on stress now. I need a few days off... And I must raise money...the financial stress is horrible on me now... Fernando Capovilla was kind enough to send me a letter of recommendation. I am using it, Fernando! I was disappointed that others didn't send me letters of recommendation...they can be through email to me privately....but it needs your full address and full name on the top of the email address, so potential backers can contact you. So I hope to be online on Monday again....I am sorry about this. But you can continue to send each other files, either privately or through the SW List - and I hope you enjoy!!
