Hello Mary, and welcome to the SignWriting List!
I mailed you a SignWriting Information Packet on March 18th, so you
should receive it shortly...

I can certainly understand, as a new member to the List, that after
reading these messages called "SignWriting as a gateway?"....you must
feel confused! (Smile)....Even I do, and I am the inventor of
SignWriting - ha!

But to answer your question....What is SignWriting?

SignWriting is a way to read and write any Sign Language. With
SignWriting, you can write the movements of ASL on paper. We write
down the way the body looks while you are signing. Here are some good
