Well...SignWriting is not in Saudi Arabia yet, but if Prince Abdul Aziz has
his way, it will be!

As you may know, there are three Deaf brothers who are princes in Saudi
Arabia. Recently I have had the honor to get to know Prince Abdul Aziz. I
have learned so much about the issues that Deaf Saudi Arabians face,
including the need to preserve their dialects of Saudi Arabian Sign
Language.

It has also saddened me to learn of the need for better Deaf education in
Saudi Arabia. No one is in a better position than Prince Abdul Aziz, to
work toward improving the school system there. Because he is Deaf himself,
he knows the issues.

I have been amazed at his deep profound interest in SignWriting. I think
you can see by his interview (which I just posted on the web)...Aziz really
means it. He will be presenting our new SW history video to five different
people in positions of power in Saudi Arabia, with hopes that they will
then invest in training for their teachers.

Progress there is slow, but I will do everything I can to help -

Meanwhile, if you would like me to post the text from the interview with
Aziz, which is posted on the web, to the SignWriting List, I will be happy
to do so. Do you want me to do that?

All the best -

Valerie :-)
