April 17, 2001 Dear SignWriting List: I can tell you what I would choose for a poster... Perhaps something that incorporates the feeling that Deaf people are respected and deserve a chance to write and preserve their history, their language and their culture. Perhaps a collage of famous Deaf historic figures gracefully intertwined with some SignWriting... Or what about the front of a T-Shirt with nothing but SignWriting....no spoken language... For example, the attached ASL sample may be hard for beginners, but the back of the shirt could have the English translation...That would start conversations! So the T-Shirts, or posters, can become learning tools... Val ;-) | |||||
