Good to have this answer, Valerie...

Answer:
That little curved line is called a "Simultaneous Line". The right and left
movements are happening "at the same". No, it does not mean smooth, it
means "at the same time".

So would differentiating between the simultaneous line and the smooth line
simply come from a knowledge of the sign itself? Or is one line slightly
longer than the other or something like that? 'Semantics', I know, but
still important when you're trying to teach this to others (and get it clear
yourself!). Thanks.

Btw, just to let you know, our group (as homework for the SW Literacy
Project) has begun trying to do our grocery lists, etc. in SW. Good
practice and lots of fun, too!
