Valerie, It just dawned on me of an established way of linking sites that I've noticed being used on the web. There are "web rings", with each website tied to the next through a link. The web rings have names and are usually related to a common interest. This if very close to the "network" idea you mentioned. For more information, you can go here: https://www.webring.org/ Also, a search on Yahoo of "Web ring" will list a good number of sites dealing with this issue.
