Subject:  Talking Hands Award

January 4th, 1999

I am happy to announce that on December 17th, 1998, the SignWritingSite was
honored with "The Talking Hands Award". It is our 7th award. The award is
now posted on our home page, and also on the awards page:

SignWritingSite Awards
https://www.SignWriting.org/sw197.html

The Talking Hands Award is particularly meaningful, because it is related
to deafness. Several of the other awards we have received were related to
children or web design, but we have only received two awards related to
deafness, and the Talking Hands Award is one of them :-)

The award was bestowed from The Lancasters and their excellent web site at:

Lancaster's Laughing Place

Apparently 7 people wrote essays nominating our site for teaching children
in a "signing-related" web site. If any of you nominated the
SignWritingSite, I want to thank you !!

Denny Lancaster is a new member of the SignWriting List, and I hope that
Denny will introduce himself and tell us more about the Talking Hands
Award. I believe there is deafness in Denny's family, so there is a history
behind the award that we all will find most interesting, I am sure.

So Denny...we are waiting to hear from you!

And thank you very much for the Talking Hands Award :-)

And have a splendid day!

Valerie :-)
