First SignWriting Workshop in the Czech Republic
will take place in Prague on the17th and 18th of September,
2006, at the Czech
Union of the Deaf, Dlouha
street no 37, Prague.

Workshop Presenters
The workshop will be presented by two Deaf teachers: Lucyna
Dlugolecka from
Poland, and Jan
Fikejs from the Czech Republic.
Lucyna Dlugolecka
works as a multi-lingual translator, writing several articles
in Polish about SignWriting, while working as an editor
for the Swiat
Ciszy Deaf Magazine in Warsaw. At the University
of Warsaw, Lucyna's dissertation is on linguistics, using
SignWriting. Lucyna teaches hearing students Polish Sign
Language and SignWriting at the University of Warsaw as
well.
Jan
Fikejs
is working on a new Czech technical signs dictionary, writing
computer engineering signs in SignWriting, at Masaryk University
in Prague, and is the author of several articles about SignWriting
written in Czech, published
in Czech Deaf magazines, including four mini-lessons
teaching SignWriting. Jan is studying IT at the University
of Economics in Prague and also works as a Sign Language
interpreter.

Praha (Czech Union of the Deaf - Prague), where
