Cecilia Flood's research project at the University of New Mexico will be
the first research project studying deaf children learning to read and
write American Sign Language. It is also the first one taking place in the
USA.
There have been two published research projects studying deaf children
learning SignWriting... The first was in Denmark in 1985, and the second in
Nicaragua in 1998:
Research on Literacy
In Danish Sign Language, 1982-1985

Research on Literacy
In Nicaraguan Sign Language, 1997-1998
https://www.SignWriting.org/rese003.html
So finally a study begins in the USA! I hope there will be more....
