May 4, 1999 Good Evening Everyone - Please excuse my double posting of the Children's Stories web pages. I posted that earlier today. Then later, someone asked me to "resend it" to them, and I ended up "resending it" to the SignWriting List instead! Yes..it is easy to make a mistake on the internet! Perhaps you would like to see some of the questions I received tonight: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "My question is has there been an increase of books published by Deaf people using the sign writing method?. Also do you know if sign writing will be recognized at the governamental level in the near future?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ another person asks.... "I am specifically looking for schools that offers a program that offers separate formal instruction in ASL and English and that also offers translation instruction from ASL to written English, and written English to ASL. Do you know of a school that offers such a program for deaf students?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and another person asks.... "Does the DAC staff use sign writing with THEIR kids? Are there general books at bookstores for the public? How many languages have been translated into or preserved by sign writing? Is sign writing used beyond secondary education in the universities? and if so, what universities are using sign writing and in what way is it being used?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Can anyone help answer some of those questions? Like the second one - I have no idea what to tell her or where to refer her.... Thanks for your help everyone - Valerie :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Valerie Sutton SignWriting https://www.SignWriting.org The DAC, Deaf Action Committee for SW Center For Sutton Movement Writing an educational nonprofit organization Box 517, La Jolla, CA, 92038-0517, USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
