Capirci, O; Cattani, A; Rossini, P; Volterra, V (Spring 1998). "Teaching Sign Language to Hearing Children as a Possible Factor in Cognitive Enhancement," Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education (Oxford University Press), 3(2):135-142. The article compares two matched groups of elementary school children in Italy. One group is taught Sign Language, the other is not. Those who were taught Sign showed enhanced cognitive abilities without the same level of drop after vacations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben Karlin Staff Interpreter for the Deaf, St Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center | ||||||||
