May 24, 1999 Good Morning SW List! I am happy to announce that I have just posted our new Special Feature on the web: Interviews with Patty Duke & William Schallert Common Questions About Deafness, Sign Language & SignWriting https://www.SignWriting.org/help005.html The purpose of this Special Feature is to help Bill Schallert, an actor in Hollywood, who is also one of our Board Members, to assist us in raising funds. Bill felt that the interviews we did together back in 1985 with TV star Patty Duke, might help hearing people, who know nothing about deafness, Sign Langauge or SignWriting, to understand the issues better. And thus, perhaps they might help our SW Literacy Project. So now we have photos of Patty, myself and Bill on the web, looking a lot younger, since the photos are from 1985!! And I transcribed our interviews from the video. Patty and Bill ask me basic questions...like "What is SW?" "Is Sign Language international?" and "If a person can see, why can't they read automatically?" These questions are asked continually by hearing people, and now Bill can just say "Go look at the web!". Of course I know most of you already know the answers to the questions in these interviews! PS. I am now working on other postings you have requested, plus I am still interveiwing programmers. Hopefully this will get resolved this week. And I purchased a new computer for our new programmer - so things are hopping here!
