Hello Everyone - Welcome to all the new members. I really enjoyed reading your introductions! Anacorina Lola asked this question in her introduction... "I think this would be a good time to ask if anyone has been in Nicaragua doing such work, to contact me and tell me about it. I would love to hear about your experiences. I would love to know how you got involved and also if it something you can do while you are still in school? Also, I will be going to Nicaragua to visit family and friends in August, and would love to see some of this work in action, or just get some more information." _______________ Hi Anacorina - We do have information on our web site about SignWriting in Nicaragua, and on those web pages you will find the names and email addresses of several people whom you should contact, including James and Judy Shepard Kegl, and Janice Gangel-Vasquez. Here are some web pages to visit: Literacy In Nicaraguan Sign Language https://www.SignWriting.org/rese003.html SignWriting In Nicaragua https://www.SignWriting.org/sw109.html Deaf Children Write SignWriting https://www.SignWriting.org/sw147.html and information on other web sites: https://www.bbc.co.uk/horizon/silent.shtml https://cgi-user.brown.edu/Administration/Brown_Alumni_Magazine/98/3-98/features/ portrait.html I personally like the latter web page, at Brown Alumni Magazine, because of the SignWriting in the background!! I will answer your other questions tomorrow :-) Have a great evening - Valerie Sutton :-) https://www.SignWriting.org Sutton at the DAC Deaf Action Committee For SignWriting Box 517, La Jolla, CA, 92038-0517, USA (619)456-0098 voice (619)456-0010 tty (619)456-0020 fax |
