SignWriting List
March 22, 2000
Last night I received a scanned copy of a complete document written
in SignWriting by hand by a Deaf student in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Fernando is very excited because he and his classmates will be
presenting SignWriting to parents and teachers at a conference held
in Albuquerque this Friday.
So Fernando surprised everyone when he decided to write a script for
the presentation, in SignWriting! He wrote all the name signs of the
students that will present, and what they would say....As the
teacher, Cecilia Flood told me..."He blew them away"...which is
American slang for "the teachers were amazed!" ;-)
So I wrote a note back to Fernando, to tell him I think his writing
is wonderful. See the attached .GIF, which was typed in SignWriter
4.3. Notice the last facial expression with the wiggly line around
the facial circle. That means "very excited"....a little like the
trembling line that is used for fingers trembling...this line placed
around the face means you are "trembling with excitment".
The ASL signs below write: "Hello Fernando! Your SignWriting, wonderful, wow!" |
