thanks for sharing this gif. Using the beginning and endposition for teaching is a good idea . It helps to understand a specific example which could be generalized to other signs . I thought of a quarter -circle - rotation .movement counter.clockwise when I looked at sign # 1. I asked myself whether there is a different arrow for this quarter - circle. This arrow looks like 180° circular movement. I compared the arrows and explanations lessons 086 and 089 (this one) . I have to ask for the rotation movement symbol - they seem almost the same to me in both examples - but the rotations arenīt ! ?? I understand - the information about the correct rotation we get from the two positions - so in this case we have to add the endposition - otherwise we wouldnīt know how far the rotation is meant ???? I try to understand your description less089 #1 ... the thumb painting the path of a curve toward the chest ... (closed fist - ok. thumb to the left turns towards the chest ) -- and then side no - - I donīt understand that !) ;-(( itīs only a quarter of a circle - ? I love your email-lessons -- thanks for that Stefan ;-) (mistakes are our friends! So please allow me to ask - if I canīt follow ) I learned a lot. ----- Original Message ----- From: Valerie Sutton To: Sent: Sunday, May 07, 2000 4:12 PM Subject: Re: Norwegian Fingerspelling & Rotation > SignWriting List > May 7, 2000 > > Ingvild & Everyone - > > Please look at the attached GIF. > > It explains rotation symbols in more detail.
