It was written in SignWriting by hand, by interpreter Nancy Ellen Woo, who later became Nancy Romero. Nancy is very skilled in SignWriting, but as a hearing person, she felt she should base the writing on a Deaf person's signing. Therefore she asked David McKee to sign it for her. The old SignWriting document is in "Full-Body" style - that means "stick figures". It is also Receptive (the stick figure faces the reader)....the Expressive writing style did not start until after 1984... So for you to read this old document, I think I should transcribe the basic signs quickly into the way we write today - It may take me a day or two - Then perhaps you can make it better from there.... I also suggest that you continue to write your own versions - David McKee's version may not be perfect ASL either....so it will only be one version of many.... I hope! ;-) So I will post a GIF and a SGN file to the List as soon as is possible.... My best to everyone - -- Val ;-) ----------------------------- Valerie Sutton SignWritingSite: https://www.SignWriting.org To Post A Message To The SW List: SignWriting List Archives: https://www.egroups.com/group/sw-l |
