Deadline 16th March 2001 Early registration (for lower price registration) Deadline 21st March 2001 The International Gesture Workshop series provide fora for the exchange of ideas and research currently in progress across disciplines. Gesture Workshop 2001, the fourth in the Gesture Workshop series, builds upon three previous highly successful workshops. It aims to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration by providing a platform for participants to share, discuss and critique both research in progress and more completed research with a multidisciplinary audience. Within the focus of human-computer interaction or computer-mediated communication, the workshop will encompass all aspects of interaction involving gesture and sign language, together with the research relating to gesture and sign-language technology. The programme includes over 40 presentations, posters and demonstrations of research work from at least 10 countries including the USA and China relating to: * Gestures and sign language in human-machine interaction * Gesture and sign language technology * Nature of gesture and sign language * Multimodality This promises to make GW2001 an exciting and important event for anyone interested in gesture/sign language related research relevant to human-computer interaction and human-language technology. The workshop will take place over three days offering a combination of invited lectures, oral presentations, posters and demonstrations. EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION/ACCOMMODATION PACKAGE We are able to offer a registration/accommodation package at very reasonable cost, well below the average price of accommodation in London. The number of places is limited available and will be distributed on a first-come-first serve basis. It will be necessary take action immediately if you wish to take advantage of this option as payment is required by the 16th March.
