SignWriting List March 30, 2001 Dear SW List: Could someone help Deborah (see below)? She needs some basic ASL signs, and basic ASL sentences, written in SignWriting. I am working on fulfilling five orders for SW materials this morning...I look forward to being online again when I am done....many thanks in advance to anyone who can help Deborah.... ;-) Val ;-) ---------------------------- Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 23:08:55 -0600 From: To: SignWriting List Subject: Information for a paper Hello, my name is Deborah Sousa. I am a Linguistics student from the University of Manitoba in Canada. I am writing a paper on ASL Writing systems and my professor, Dr. Terry Janzen, told me to look at your sight. What I've found so far has been very helpful and I think your system is the best one I've seen so far. The problem I have is that I do not speak ASL and I need a few words and sentences written in SignWriting as an example for my paper. I was hoping that someone would be able to transcribe the following into SignWriting, please. WORDS Woman Man House Book I (PRO.1) Go Eat Read Meet SENTENCES The woman and man go to the house. I (PRO.1) read a book. The woman eats. The man read the next page of the book. I know the words and sentences are very simple, but I don't need anything very complex and I think these sentences are ok for my paper. Thank you for your time. Deborah Sousa | ||||||||||||||||||||
