Val, You don't need a large scanner to get the posters scanned. I've been able to scan an 11x17 portrait with my page-size scanner. I scanned both sides, then, in a graphics program called Corel Photohouse, I put the two images together and lined them up. The end result was a complete picture without even a hint that it had been patched together from two scans. I'm not sure how large these posters are, but as long as you have a scanner that can allow you to put the posters flat, then you should be able to scan it in sections and do what I did.
