SignWriting List September 16, 2001 Thank you, Tini, for your moving message below. It meant a lot to hear that people in other countries are saddened too. If the entire US no longer existed, the same people would find someone else to hate. Hatred is a choice. Just as love is a choice. And sadly, they fear that over 500 people with British passports were also killed, and there were a number of Japanese who worked at the World Trade Center. There was a tourist group with guests from other countries, taking a tour of the Towers at the time of the attack...so American citizens are not the only ones who are suffering, unfortunately. They were planning a free concert of dancing and world culture the night of the terrorist attack, in the World Trade Center. After the attack, I received urgent messages from dancers, trying to find everyone to make sure that no dancer was missing, because I believe they were rehearsing at the time of the attack. Apparently everyone was OK, thank goodness. I heard from Andrea Braswell, a Deaf member of our SignWriting List, who lives in New York. I am so happy you are OK, Andrea! I know there are many List members who live in Washington DC. Gallaudet University is in Washington. Although the attack was on the Pentagon building, there were passengers from Washington on one of the planes, so Charles....are you OK? I hope you all will feel free to express your feelings on the SignWriting List. It is not "off-topic", but very needed. How can we work on SignWriting, if our souls are not at peace? Therefore, we must start a campaign of positive thinking. Of giving. Of loving. Of support. If the SignWriting List can be a source of comfort and expression, then please write to us to tell us how you feel.
