December 5, 1998
Dear SignWriting List members:
Today I received this message from a member of the List:
>How do you draw a movement that goes at an angle out from the body and up
>at the same time.
>Or down and in, down and out, etc.?
Those are advanced arrows which are "Diagonal-Plane" arrows, and yes we
have them in SignWriting. They are on the SignWriter Computer Program
keyboard, but they are not in the Lessons In SignWriting Textbook yet
because I was not sure they would be used. But I am now informed that
people are using them in several countries for several different signed
languages.
I, too, found them necessary when writing the advanced Goldilocks in ASL,
so there is no question they will be added to my textbook now :-)
Therefore I am writing to ask the following....right now I am scheduled to
post the advanced Goldilocks on December 14th, as a Special Feature on our
web site.
What about making this the Special Feature schedule instead?
December 14, 1998....Lessons In SignWriting, Straight Movement Arrows (will
answer the question above)
January 4th, 1999....Advanced Goldilocks
Which schedule do you prefer? Hope some of you will give your 2 cents!
Many thanks -
Valerie :-)
