Thanks for all your great messages and I look forward to sharing with you

I know that some of you are new to these kinds of internet email lists. The
SignWriting List is run by software called LISTSERVE. Once you get to know
how LISTSERVE works, you can control how you receive mail in your email box.
Recently I have had several people write saying they do not understand how
to change their settings. So here are some "step-by-step" instructions.
Once you learn this, you will find that it becomes real easy!!
Let us imagine that you do not want to have too many messages flooding your
email box. So you want to set your email to the DIGEST command, which will
place all of the messages for one day into ONE loooong email message...You
will only receive one email message a day, which is not too bad!
So, how do you do this from your computer?

1. Open a brand new email message.
2. In the To: area of your header, type this address:
So....your header looks like this:
To: SignWriting List
From: (your name/email address is here)
Subject:
3. Do NOT write anything in the subject area - just leave that blank.
4. Then...in the body of the message...type this:
SET SW-L DIGEST
5. Next, turn off your automatic signature file that is setup in your email
software. No signature is best.
6. Send the message.
7. The LISTSERVE software will send you an automatic message confirming
that you now will receive the SignWriting List messages in DIGEST form.

Later, if you wish to change back to normal mail, send this command:
SET SW-L MAIL
(follow the instructions above).

So don't feel frightened of LISTSERVE - once you get the hang of it, the
skill will be useful for other lists too!
