Val, Ok, I am sure she would love to write letter in signwriting and send to the Deaf children in Albuquerque!! She will be very exciting. I show her your web page the story about Goldilock and three bears. She say please prints it out. So I will do that for her. And also I show her signwriting software in dos. She like it but she can't remember because too many command. But I sit next to her while she doing whatever she can't remember which then I point on the keyboard. I think, Daniela Remiao de Macedo make sign dic. I believe this sign dic would be the best for Sabrina. Gabriel did bring Cinderella story to his school and show teachers. They never saw and say to Gabriel What is that? So Gabriel explains and shows the sign from signwriting. All his teacher interests to him and wants him in the class and talk to all the student about signwriting tomorrow. Thank you for sharing this with us! Your story sounds like other stories I have heard. Oftentimes, children who already know how to sign, seem to learn SignWriting quickly. I started to write this message about an hour ago, and before I could post it, I received a telephone call from a teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, named Cecilia Flood. Cecilia will be participating in our SignWriting Literacy Project, starting in March. In time we will be posting several reports about the new Albuquerque SW Literacy Project. It will continue over several years. Results from the classroom will be documented as a part of Cecilia's doctoral thesis at the University of New Mexico. On the phone, Cecilia just told me that she has already shown SignWriting to a few individual Deaf children, one as young as five years old, and they read it quickly...in fact the five year old could see when a name sign was written incorrectly - which means she was truly reading the SignWriting symbols, and not just guessing at them. So this is great news :-) So Lourdes, please tell Sabrina for us, that we are so pleased she can read Cinderella...Perhaps in time, she will enjoy writing letters in SignWriting to the Deaf children in Albuquerque!!
