Good Morning SignWriting List -

I am mildly surprised, but very pleased at the positive response the new
writing lesson has received, which I posted on the web Monday. I spoke to
several teachers at different schools yesterday, and all told me they like
the lesson and needed more of the same. One teacher is already applying the
lesson in the classroom!

Writing by hand is so much a part of me that I sometimes forget that it
needs to be taught...so I want you to know that I will place more emphasis
on the "SignWriting by Hand" lessons in the new year.

How do you feel about a pen pal club between the schools? Or perhaps there
are others on the SignWriting List who would like to write letters to each
other in SignWriting? We have had pen pal clubs before and they were
successful in encouraging people to learn to write by hand.

So if you like this idea, write to me, and I will begin to focus on setting
up a SW Pen Pal Club again. Pen pals would write to each other in SW by
hand, through snail mail (normal postal mail) or fax.

The participating groups in the SignWriting Literacy Project might really
benefit from the SW Pen Pal Club.

I will respond shortly to other email messages -

Thanks for writing!

Valerie :-)
