Anyone is welcome to do so :-) Here are answers to your questions... 1. Is SignWriting Free To Use? Yes!! 2. Do People Pay Royalties For Using SignWriting? No. There is not one person who works with SignWriting, including the inventor Valerie Sutton, who has ever received one penny in royalties for the invention of SignWriting. 3. Can I Publish Using SignWriting? Yes! When you publish, we request the following... a. Please inform us before you publish, so that we can supply you with the proper updated materials. SignWriting is continually changing and improving. b. Please send us a free copy of your publication after it is published. It will be placed in our SignWriting Archives. c. Please give Valerie Sutton and the Deaf Action Committee For SignWriting (the DAC) full credit for the invention of SignWriting. The following should we stated somewhere in the publication: "SignWriting" is a way to read and write the movements of all signed languages, developed by Valerie Sutton and the DAC, the Deaf Action Committee For SignWriting, sponsored by the non-profit Center For Sutton Movement Writing, PO.
