ISO 639-2 is an International Standard which specifies a three-letter code to identify languages. I just checked, and there is no code for Sign Language. I think there should be. Accordingly, I have prepared a web page outlining how Sign Language could be coded using ISO 639-2 and ISO 3166 (country codes). Please see https://www.indigo.ie/egt/standards/iso639/deaf.html There is a procedure to follow for applying for a code but of course I'll need the Deaf community's blessing on the plan before doing so. -- Michael Everson * Everson Gunn Teoranta * https://www.indigo.ie/egt 15 Port Chaeimhghein Íochtarach; Baile Átha Cliath 2; Éire/Ireland Guthán: +353 1 478 2597 ** Facsa: +353 1 478 2597 (by arrangement) 27 Páirc an Fhéithlinn; Baile an Bhóthair; Co.
