Valerie, I would like to make the list aware of a potentially new opportunity to increase the awareness of SignWriting. This past weekend, the first biennual (every two years) Southern Deaf Showcase debuted in Clearwater, Florida. It will, hopefully, be there again next year and then every two years after that - if current plans materialize. I asked for SignWriting material at a few booths (Dawn SignPress was there) but got quizzical looks. Hopefully, those looks will change by next year. ;-) Information about this past showcase is still available at: https://deafservicecenter.org/ Bill Reese Valerie Sutton wrote: > SignWriting List > September 25, 2000 > > Dear SW List! > > Many of us have expressed disappointment in the past, that Gallaudet > seemingly had little interest in SignWriting... > > Well, according to Gallaudet University Bookstore manager, Priscilla > O'Donnell, that is not the case! > > She tells me that they "have been trying to find our address and > phone numbers" for several years...but could not find us! > > As you know, we have had a well-visited web site since 1996, so our > address and phone numbers are all over the web....I assumed they knew > where to find me (grin). > > Anyway, the bookstore has ordered 20 copies of our Sutton's American > Sign Language Dictionary, plus they have requested one copy of each > of our video titles "for review" to see if they want to carry them. > > And they tell me that some Deaf people have asked for SignWriting > materials at their bookstore!! > > So perhaps times are changing ;-)) > -- > > Val ;-) > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > Valerie Sutton > > > Visit the SignWritingSite: > https://www.SignWriting.org | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
