Hi Stefan,
ALDA is an acronym for "Association of Late-Deafened Adults." We are a support
group for people who have lost their hearing after acquiring a spoken
language. We understand and use spoken language. In the US, we also use CASE,
Conceptually Accurate Signed English, to give us a visual component of the
spoken language.
As a support group, our primary function is to help members deal with their
loss of communication and socialize in a way that returns a sense of normalcy
to us, a sense of belonging.
