September 17, 2001 Dear SW List members: For detailed writing of signs, writing vertically is more accurate. That is because the body is vertical. Sign Languages revolve around the center of the body. Sometimes signs are placed to the right or the left of the center. Although this can be written horizontally, there are some details that are quite hard to write in the horizontal writing, but become easy and clear when writing vertically.
