Hello SignWriting List!
I received a number of questions about SignWriter 5.0 right before
Christmas. So here are two of them:
QUESTION: Will SignWriter 5.0 for Windows and the Macintosh, offer
different "pull-down" menus for choosing different dictionary files?
ANSWER: Yes! And we will also have pull-down menus for different countries
as well. So you will be able to "mix and match" keyboards from 14 countries
with any dictionary you choose.
QUESTION: Will SignWriter 5.0 be on a CD-ROM too? It would be nice for
people to run from the
CD-ROM rather than having to install it on their computer, except for the
system settings, and create a folder to store any new files or dictionary
by the user.
ANSWER: At this time we are not planning this, since we are a nonprofit and
we are volunteering our time to the development of SignWriter 5.0. But
perhaps someday we can get a grant to do this, although I do not feel it is
a priority. Our first priority is to get a working version of SignWriter
5.0 on Windows and the Macintosh, and from there we can think of more
features later.
Thanks very much for your questions and interest in SignWriter 5.0!
Valerie :-)
