Hello Everyone, and Nancy!!

I am so happy to know that you were able to download the SignWriter
shareware, Nancy! That is good news.

Although laser printers work better with SignWriter 4.3, there are
some ink jet printers that print well too...so you need to experiment
a little. You need to try several different printing modes and
several different interfaces, and maybe it might magically work - we
hope!

Here are the basic instructions.... experiment a little on the computer....

--------------

INSTRUCTION SIGNWRITER 4.3
Printing Setup

1. These words appears at the bottom of your screen when you open the
SignWriter Computer Program:

Edit New Print File Directory Setup Quit

The Setup command is used to install your printer.

2. To access the Setup command, hold one finger on the Alt key, and
at the same time press the S key (S for Setup).

3. This appears at the bottom of your screen:

Setup | Printing Country Dictionary

4. Next, press the P key (for Printing).

5. This appears at the bottom of your screen:

Setup | Printer Interface Format Numbers Lines

6. Press the P key again (for Printer). The following appears:

Setup | Epson *Hewlett-Packard Postscript

7. Press the E key if you have a dot-matrix printer.
Press the H key if you have a "non-postscript" Laser printer.
Press the P key if you have a "postscript" Laser printer.

NOTE: If you own an InkJet Printer, and you have problems printing,
experiment with all three to see which one works for you...

After you do this, SignWriter's original command line appears at the
bottom of your screen:

Edit New Print File Directory Setup Quit

There is now a second step you must go through....

8. The Setup command is also used to install your interface. To
access the Setup command, press the Alt key, plus the S key (S for
Setup).

9. This appears:

Setup | Printing Country Dictionary

10. Press the P key (for Printing).

11. This appears:

Setup | Printer Interface Format Numbers Lines

12. Press the I key (for Interface). This appears:

Setup | 1--COM 1 2--COM 2 *3--LPT 1 4--LPT 2

13. Press the 1 key if your interface is COM 1.
Press the 2 key if your interface is COM 2.
Press the 3 key if your interface is LPT 1.
Press the 4 key if your interface is LPT 2.

Note: If you don't know which interface to choose, see the manual
that came with your printer, or ask someone to help you.

14. If you have problems printing later, experiment by re-setting
your interface choices (COM-1, or COM-2, LPT-1, or LPT-2) to another
one of the four...try all four until one magically works!! ;-)

If after trying all four interfaces, you still have problems, please
write to me personally. I am happy to help you!
