Karl -
The kind of teaching materials you mention would be excellent! I hope
you or others will develop them, using SignWriting.

Although we have some materials that teach a little ASL, our main
goal is to invent a usable and typable writing system for any signed
language in the world. So I do not teach ASL.

Historically, the development of the "alphabet" had to come first,
before good grammar books could be written. So I am developing the
equivalent to the alphabet for writing signs...and then others will
have to write the grammar books on different signed languages.

So you will need to learn ASL with teachers and Deaf friends. Then
you and your students can use SignWriting to write down the signs and
grammar you learn.
