The SignWriting Symposium features presentations about SignWriting in 4 categories: Education, Literature, Software and Research, presented by teachers, researchers, software developers and signers from across the globe.
Each presentation is archived on the web with its own Presentation Web Page, including abstracts, papers, videos, slides, bios and photos.
The SignWriting Symposium was first presented in Brussels, Belgium, in 2005, as a conference of SignWriting teachers and researchers, who gathered together to discuss ideas for Deaf education.
In 2014, the Symposium became an online event and was broadcast LIVE online in Google Hangouts and YouTube for three years: July 2014, 2015 and 2016.
In 2017, the Symposium changed formats. It is no longer streamed LIVE but instead presenters create their own documentation of their SignWriting projects, and send the videos, PowerPoints, abstracts and documents to the Symposium directors, Valerie Sutton and Steve Slevinski.
Each presentation is showcased on a Presentation Web Page on SignWriting.org and also posted on YouTube, SlideShare and Facebook.
Thank you to the 71 presenters from 16 countries!
